Map draws future of environment in Latin America

A new Atlas produced by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) highlights the impact of a major climate and geographical changing in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The map is an important tool for the achievement of future measures and public policies needed to promote a more sustainable development in the region.

More than 200 satellite pictures, maps and graphics clearly reveal the negative impact of uncontrollable urban growth, especially around San Jose, in Costa Rica.

Climate Changing

The effects of climate changing could be detected in the Chilean and Argentinean glacier. Deforestation is evident in countries such as Brazil, Bolivia, Mexico, Guatemala and Haiti.

Consequently, the new Atlas also points out that the region is rapidly losing its biodiversity.
